“I would put that as a single anywhere on the Billboard, even next to a Taylor Swift Record.”
— JazzFeezy (for Megan's single "Stay Out All Night”)
Megan Anne is thrilled to announce the release of her debut EP, Phoenix, available on iTunes, Spotify, and all other major online realtors on October 26th, 2018.
Phoenix is Megan Anne’s first major release since her single “Stay Out All Night,” produced by JazzFeezy (Drake, T.I.) and mixed by Michael Jack (Hilary Duff, Nelly Furtado.) The rest of the indie-pop EP was recorded with Jeff Wardell (Your Productions,) and Dayne Gerous (Waking Life Studios.) With a flair for storytelling, her unique sound has been compared to Amy Winehouse, Hayley Williams, and Halsey.
Megan was the Emerging Artist Award winner at the 2018 Barrie Arts Awards. She's currently attending Seneca College's Independent Music Production Program, and performs regularly with guitar player Russell Jackson-Wyatt. Her music has been heard on Beach Booster Radio, Indie Star Radio, and RogersTV. Notable 2018 performances of Megan’s include Downsview Park, Celebrate Barrie, The Brownstone, and the Georgian Triangle Music Festival.
“Lyrically her songs are crafted to be both approachable and perceptive – leading one to easily make songwriting comparisons to pop darlings like Sara Bareilles or synth-pop cool-girl Halsey.”
Megan recently attended York University, studying Vocal Music. She was the 2017 recipient of both the Sterling Beckwith Award, and the Imasco Performing Arts Award.
Megan is self-taught on piano, ukulele, and guitar. She has spent the last three years taking vocal lessons with Cirque du Soleil vocalist Renée Cingolani.
Megan is a passionate composer, and especially enjoys exploring interpersonal relationship in her lyrics (she writes about boys a lot.) She has always had a love for writing, and in 2013 was the recipient of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF/FEESO) Student Achievement Award (in honour of Marion Drysdale) with her short story The Perfect Circle. She currently writes album reviews for Canadian Beats.
Megan’s most recent project has been working with the indie game studio One More Story Games. They are developing a game based on the novel Shakespeare’s Landlord by #1 New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris (HBO’s True Blood, NBC’s Midnight TX). Megan’s original song “Peace” will be appearing in the game, to be released in 2018.
